A Hill Country Wedding – Janet & Josh

Janet and Josh had a beautiful all day affair.  Janet began her prep at a hotel while Josh arrived at the church.  After a beautiful ceremony and some family photos at the church, we drove out to a georgous hill country ranch for the reception.  The ranch is the private residence of a family friend and was a great place for photos – the architecture of the  residence, the beautiful hill country, and even a pool!

Engagement Session – Downtown Austin

A fun engagement session in downtown Austin with Salina and Joseph.  Some of the locations we hit included the Alamo Ritz movie theater on 6th Street, the Gingerman bar, Mozart’s Coffee Shop, the city hall, and the W Hotel, and Salina made a “Honk 4 Love” sign for the motorists on Congress and Guadalupe!

NEAWP Summer Games!

A few quick shots from the NEAWP Summer Games!  Some of Austin’s best wedding vendors came together for a night of fun, food and games.   Vendors split up into teams and competed against each other in a cake decorating contest, bridal show, bouquet toss, and “Bride Says” – a wedding version of Simon Says!

Wedding at Texas Old Town

Kim and Jeremiah were married at Texas Old Town in Kyle on May 22nd.   There was a chance of rain, but the clouds held off and actually helped make it a bit cooler for the guests.  Kim was adorned in a stunning necklace and earrings that matched her equally beautiful dress.   Once the reception got started the band did a great job of covering everything from classic country to classic rock – it was a great party!

Congrats Kim and Jeremiah!

Jennifer & Alan

A few of Thomas’ photos as a second shooter for a wedding in Katy, TX at Agave Road event center.  Agave Road is a beautiful venue, inside and out.  Unfortunately rain drove the ceremony indoors, but Lindsey and her team did a great job of adapting to the weather and putting on great wedding!

La Paloma Events Center

Rojo Pictures is proud and excited to work with a premier wedding and event venue in the Lakeway: La Paloma Events Center.

The property rests on 5 acres with hill country views, lush landscape, and is surrounded by a wild life preserve.  The venue accommodates parties of up to 200; there is a beautiful pavilion with vaulted ceilings that combines the magic of fresh open air and beautiful surroundings with the option of closing the area in if there is inclement weather.

There is also a bridal suite with a Juliet balcony, swimming pool with pool house, and the elegant main house has 3 living areas, 5 bedrooms, 5 baths,  and a kitchen – everything a bride could want!  Tons of opportunities for photos all over the venue!

La Paloma has also secured the services of one of Austin’s best caterers: Royal Fig Catering!

We’ll be at their open house June 13th, 4 to 6p.m!

Wedding at Vintage Villas

Caterina and Chris were married April 30th at Vintage Villas on Lake Travis.  They are an incredibly fun, outgoing couple, and we had a wonderful time documenting their day!  Chris works for the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office and we pray he stays safe while protecting the community.  Congratulations Cat and Chris!

Sonia & Stephen (Engagement Session)

We braved ants, slippery rocks, and Thomas delicately balancing himself on top of a swing set with a camera in his hand and had lots of fun shooting Sonia and Stephen’s engagement photos. Behind their house is a greenbelt with a creek, walking trails, gazebo, open fields and a playground. So we met them at home, walked out the backyard, and started shooting!

Jennifer & Jason (Engagement Session)

What a cute couple!  Meet Jennifer & Jason.   Their engagement session was a lot of fun to shoot.  We met them at Waterloo Park where most of the shoot took place.  We set them up in a few places – but after that we just let them be and captured great moments of a great couple.   Jason is in a band and Jennifer is beginning to learn a few chords – so they brought their guitars and we got to hear them play as the sun set!

Blue is one of their colors in the wedding, so after Waterloo Park we went downtown to get a few shots in front of a large blue tile wall, as night fell we walked over to some train tracks right as train passed by!

It was a great evening and we wish them all the best in their marriage!

Old World Stone Competition

Not exactly wedding photographs, but the Old World Stone Competition took place at the beautiful Vineyard at Florence – which just happens to be a beautiful wedding venue in addition to the first residential winery in Texas!

The stone carvers created some beautiful pieces and it was great to watch them work!

Ashley & Julio

What a fun wedding to be a part of!  Ashley, Julio, and all their friends and family were a joy to photograph and be around.  The traditional first dance of the bride and groom came as a surprise to the wedding guests – especially the parents!  The first 10 to 15 seconds were slow and romantic – then the music changed over, the bridesmaids and roommates rushed the dance floor, and a choreographed dance routine in ensued!

The girls made sure to practice their part in front of the mirror a few hours before the ceremony.

Despite a cold front that came through that day, everyone stayed warm and had a great time, and  Ashely and Julio head off to Costa Rica the next morning!

The wedding was held at the beautiful Casa Blanca on Brushy Creek in Round Rock.

Memory Lane Event Center Luncheon

Had a great time at the Memory Lane Event Center Luncheon in Dripping Springs on Thursday!  Memory Lane coordinator, Thalia Morgan, hosted a great event sponsored by our office mates, Royal Fig Catering and Stardust Pastry, who provided delicious food and desserts.  The weather was perfect for the event as Thalia lead some of Austin’s best wedding coordinators and event planners on a tour of her facilities.  Memory Lane is a beautiful hill country venue with 18 acres of green space, pool, large spacious pavilion and on-site accommodations.  For more info go to their website, here.

Other participating vendors included:   Dragonfly Design Invitations, Premier Party Central, Wild Bunches Floral, Winery on the Gruene, Farahday’s Massage, and J Harpist, and of course us!

Holiday Office Party

A few photos from our office holiday party.  We’ve recently started sharing space with Royal Fig Catering run by husband and wife team, Dan and Kristen Stacy, and Stardust Pastry run by Summer Pruett, so it was a great chance to get to know everyone better.

For dinner Dan prepared a roasted rack of Berkshire pork and creole mash potatoes with a mustard cream sauce.  There was also sauteed brussel sprouts and shirtake mushrooms with bacon bits.   Even if you don’t like brussel sprouts – the way Dan prepares them will make you reevaluate your opinion – they were delicious.  And if Royal Fig can make brussel sprouts delicious – you can imagine how great the pork, potatoes and mustard cream sauce were!

Summer and her team provided the dessert.  She made an incredibly delicious and decadent chocolate souffle with a side of ice cream, and if that wasn’t enough, she made a rich chocolate sauce you could pour all over it!  They even used a blow torch to heat the spoon before scooping out the ice cream – a great idea!

All in all it was a fun night to spend with everyone at our space; great food with great people.  Royal Fig and Stardust Pastry will also be providing their incredible food at our grand opening party (for other vendors and couples alike) on January 19th.

We hope to see you there!

Greg & Loree

What a fun wedding to shoot! I was asked by a fellow photographer and friend, Ben Sklar, to assist him at a wedding a couple weekends ago. I had never met Loree or Greg, so this was a new experience for me. Normally, I meet the bride and groom and develop a relationship with them, but that wasn’t the case this time – but it didn’t matter.  They were fantastic, very relaxed, easy-going people.

Loree and Greg’s ceremony took place at St Elias Eastern Orthodox Church on 11th Street. I’ve never shot an Orthodox wedding before and I have to say it was quite beautiful. The church was stunning! Incredibly ornate and had something that every photographer dreams of – an abundance of windows letting in the afternoon sun! The ceremony took about 45 minutes or so and was definitely a beautiful experience.

After the ceremony I rode along with Ben to the Capitol grounds where we took some portraits of the newlyweds before heading downtown to Parkside on 6th and San Jacinto.

All in all it was a wonderful experience and I wish Greg and Loree all the best in the years to come.

Office Space

No – not the movie!

We are proud to announce we will be leasing office space in Westlake Hills!

We will be able to take meetings and show our portfolio to clients in a great, comfortable location at 4238 Bee Caves Road.

We’re sharing space with several other great vendors, so if you’re looking for a caterer (Royal Fig), a cake (Stardust Pastry), or wedding coordinator (Royal Fig again!) – stop by and you can get it all taken care of in one place!

We will post pictures once we’ve completely moved in in a few weeks and there will be a grand opening party for other wedding professionals and clients in the near future.

Stay tuned!

We’re Officially Official!

We’ve finalized paper work on two of the most important aspects for a company. Filed all documents necessary with the Secretary of State’s office for the State of Texas to become a fully formed and recognized company. Picked up our certification of formation of a company yesterday! Fortunately the name Rojo Pictures wasn’t taken yet!

We’ve also acquired general liability insurance. Necessary at some venues for any wedding vendor, and something any professional should have.
